We’ve won Pub of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2024…
Yet more good news for CIEL HOTELS! Last night the George and Dragon won Pub of the Year at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2024! This is hot on the heels of Askham Hall winning the Taste of England Award at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2024 and we just couldn’t be prouder.
From the outset, we wanted the George and Dragon to be different and as with Askham Hall and The Queen’s Head too, food – and our field to fork ethos is at the heart of everything we do. This ethos is challenging to maintain, the sheer amount of work it takes to produce so much of our own ingredients is monumental. That combined with constantly rising costs, means it would be an easy thing to compromise, but we’ve stayed true to it, and these awards are so heartening to us because it means that our guests enjoy, value and appreciate this effort and quality. It means we are getting it right.
The Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate and recognise exceptional quality across Cumbria’s wide range of tourism businesses which drive a visitor economy worth £4.1 billion and support 43,562 full time jobs. The awards, which took place last night, were one of the showpiece events of Cumbria Tourism’s 50th anniversary programme and it was an honour to be there and to be in such good company – Cumbria’s tourism businesses are outstanding.
We’d like to say a huge thank you and a massive congratulations to our amazing team. Many congratulations to all the other winners and finalists too.
